The history and rise of the Nouveau Riche.

Nouveau riche is a person who has worked hard and acquired a good amount of wealth in his or her generation. This also generally emphasizes that the individual was previously of lower socioeconomic rank. Nouveau riche basically means new money.
In early days, the term nouveau riche was used to indicate someone that they come from lower class and that they have no etiquettes and charm to meet up those who have wealth for multiple generations. The social status of nouveau riche is often juxtaposed against the old wealth, or against those with trans-generation wealth, in order to display cultural and societal difference between the two groups. The social value of such a person shifts from the family’s elite social standing and long family traditions to a symbolic value as an element of upper-class lifestyle. Furthermore, the isolation that minority nouveau riches experience within their own class leads them to prioritize issues like justice, civil liberties and tolerance.
